Who are we?
FUNDCLASS is an independent actor dedicated exclusively to analysis and ranking for the OPCVM market. The investors and the directors are experienced professionals in the financial sector all having a very good knowledge of the OPCVM market. None of them have any particular link with any fund management companies whatsoever ; allowing an independent and objective analysis of the products offered to the public.
FUNDCLASS is a relatively new company, but the occupation of studying, of ranking and of the rating of European funds dates back to 1998.
Why have we created FUNDCLASS?
It was during the studies led on behalf of his clients that François Chauvet, President of APTimum Conseill and creator of the rating methodology, discovered that the market of OPCVMs wasn’t quite as uniform as we all had imagined, and that the choice of one OPCVM or the other had a crucial importance.
You will discover, as you continue your visit of this site, that in effect, the differentials of performance between the OPCVM which are offered to you can be very important, including among them, those commercialized in the same bank or at the same in insurance company.
By way of example, and to allow you to measure the significance of these differentials, we have calculated the performance of the 5 least well performing OPCVM, for the 5 best, and the average performance during the last years in the principal categories. The summarized results are available HERE and the detailed results year by year are available HERE.
As the graphics demonstrate, these differentials are very significant and they create considerable differences of evolution after several years. We considered it therefore useful to permit anyone and everyone to compare products between themselves in order to facilitate the choice making procedure before subscribing.
But if the principal appeared simple, One cannot but notice that the putting into practice of the comparison of OPCVM between themselves has not been an easy exercise. Even if the information exists; to regroup it, to process it, and then to extract conclusions is the work of professionals who require sufficient means and time.
Our determination to develop much more knowledge for each investor, of facilitating the understanding and the transparency of the market , of becoming familiar with the ratings and the obtained results , and more generally to respond to what seems to us to be a demand of investors private and professional alike has driven us to create the agency of rating : FUNDCLASS.
How do we work?
We take the point of view of the investor and our judgement on the quality of the products is directed exclusively by our intention to permit you to choose the best product at your disposition amongst the thousand of products commercialized. Our data and / or our services are thus invoiced directly to the investor and we realize no remuneration from fund promoters. We act therefore as independent analysts and the work of identification of the best OPCVM of each category is carried out in complete transparence and without indirect commercial interest.
Legally, the company is an ‘SAS’ company with a capital value declared at 37000 Euro; the Headquarters being situated at 66 Avenue des Champs – Elysées in Paris and it is registered at the Paris RCS under the number

A FUNDAMENTAL POINT : improvement of information
The first initiative of the company has been to attempt to improve the information available for the general public. We have had a long association with The newspaper Le Monde, a newspaper dedicated to the provision of high quality information to its readers.
